Verballed Duke Over: Illinois, Oklahoma, Stanford, Southern Cal, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Tulsa 2/26/01 - From Rivals. This highly rated (4 star) prospect is high on Kansas and Kansas is probably pretty high on him. Midwest Hoops made this observation: "He is better facing that basket than with his back to it but can post and score with ease. He is rated by Midwest Hoops as the #4 Power Forward in his class." 6/14/01 - There have been reports that Kansas was off Sheldon's list of schools. Apparently that report has highly premature and KU is still in the thick of it. Duke may still be the leader but the serious recruiting season has only begun. Currently at the USA tryouts along with other KU recruits like Kelly Orchard. 8/16/01 - Sheldon has visits set for Duke, Illinois and North Carolina. Final visits will go to either KU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky or Michigan. 9/10/01 - Jayhawk Slant just placed a note that Sheldon has verballed to Duke. How does this affect Shavlik Randolph? It obviously hurts OU after the commitment by DeAngelo Alexander as they may have hoped to pull a big haul from in-state. OU still can with Kevin Bookout and a few other names but Sheldon was the plum.
