3/9/01 - From Rivals. Averaging 26 ppg and 12 rpg. 5/21/01 - Everyone thought it was a forgone conclusion that Shavlik was headed to Duke. With family ties to Tabacco Road, it will probably be hard to pry him away from the coast but Mick Sullivan believes he will make a recruiting trip to KU. His family says Shavlik has no leader at this point. 6/14/01 - It appears that KU is no longer on Shavlik's recruiting screen. He still could make a visit just to keep KU's name in good with top recruits much like with Shane Battier. 7/2/01 - Now that the nation nows about Shavlik, the next big question is whether he will be the first to announce for the NBA? Still weak in the upper body, the NBA seems to be drafting on potential rather than need. Still favoring the Tabacco Road schools, he has a very difficult choice to make in telling some schools "No". Hey, Shav, tell them all no and head west to Lawrence! We got Carolina connections. 8/16/01 - Despite the belief that Shavlik will not leave the Carolinas, he is still intending to visit KU according to reports including one by the Lawrence Journal World. 8/21/01 - The LJW is reporting that Shavlik may make his visit on September 1st or 8th. 8/24/01 - The Lawrence Journal World has this visit schedule for Shavlik - Kansas (Sept. 8th for UCLA game), Duke (Sept. 21st for Duke-Northwestern football game), North Carolina State (Sept. 28th for North Carolina-N.C. State game), North Carolina (Oct. 12th for Midnight Madness) and Florida (Nov. 16th for Florida-Florida State). 9/7/01 - Reports have Shavlik now visiting for Late Night in October instead of the UCLA game. He already took an unofficial to Duke for their alumni charity basketball game. Reports were he was quite impressed. |
