Verballed Kentucky Over: Kansas, Stanford, Illinois, Minnesota, Xavier, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Kent State, Rider, William & Mary 7/25/01 - From RivalsHoops. One of this summers surprises. Another Canadian on the KU scope. Having a good summer and beginning to get attention from recruiters. 7/30/01 - From Dave Telep's bbs - Reading around the web, finding that more teams are picking up on Bernard. His list is growing rapidly. KU has offered and were in Montreal last Sunday to see him play. Roy Williams will make an in-home visit after school starts. Good size but also has range on his shot. 8/16/01 - The LJW is reporting that Bernard will make a visit this fall. Most likely KU is targeting him for Late Night. Canadians do not get the exposure to the various schools like US kids get so the thought is Late Night would give the best representation prior to an actual game. 8/24/01 - The LJW reports from the Jayhawk Slant that Bernard will visit for the Wyoming game on September 15th. They mention an impressive list of schools recruiting Bernard. The article mentioned Stanford getting a visit on September 8th and considering Illinois, Ohio State, Kentucky, Minnesota and Xavier as well. 9/7/01 - Well, Stanford is out of the picture now. Bernard is visiting Kentucky this weekend and still plans on September 15th for KU and the Wyoming game. Things must look pretty good for KU now! 9/25/01 - KU's recruiting took a hit when the terrorists struck in September. The cancellation of flights prevented Bernard from visiting and family concerns over air travel played into Kentucky's hands as Bernard decided to make his decision without any further visits. This is a major hit for KU's class as Bernard was a primary target.
