8/16/01 - From Alliance. Alliance Sports first reported that KU was talking to Kevin. I was doubtful to the degree of real interest that Kevin might have in KU. He has strong family ties to Oklahoma. He is a top rate HS pitcher and could go quite high in next springs draft. He is also a fantastic track and field participant and is thought to have a shot at the olympics in field events. Yet there have been more than one report that he will now visit KU with his family soon.
8/28/01 - Well, the reports of a visit have been confirmed by the Lawrence Journal World. He is visiting with fellow AAU teammate DeAngelo Alexander for Late Night. The LJW reports that he is visiting Oklahoma State, Illinois, Oklahoma and Tennessee prior to KU and may visit UCLA for track.Coming from a storied sports family, his brother, Kyle, is on the OU track team and brother, Casey, is OU's all-time home run leader. Kevin has said he could sign a pro baseball contract right out of high school as a pitcher (93 mph fastball). He won the shot put and discus titles at the USATF Youth Athletics National championships this summer.
10/12/01 - Kevin is a stud. He not only bangs with the best in basketball but he is a strong Olympian contender in the discus and shotput. The U.S. Olympic track and field coach visited Kevin to actually recruit him to continue pursuing track for the Olympics. Kevin confirmed that the coach gave a positive report on KU's throwing coach in track. He will attend Late Night this weekend and may yet visit Arkansas or Tennessee but isn't crazy about flying right now.
10/16/01 - While Kevin had a great time at KU and he is high on the KU track program, his commitment to basketball may be in doubt due to the commitments of Jeff Graves and Mouyale Niang on October 15th.
