"Phog" Allen Fieldhouse
Allen Fieldhouse is entering its 43rd season. It is named after Forrest C. (Phog) Allen, who coached the Jayhawks for 39 years. It is located on Naismith Drive, named after James Naismith, the inventor of the game and KU's first coach. Allen Fieldhouse is considered by many to be one of the toughest places in college basketball to play. Starting before the game with the Rock Chalk Chant, the fans are actively involved in the proceedings and knowledgeable about the game. However, many think that the spirit of Phog Allen remains in residence and aids the Jayhawks in times of need. The banner pictured below hangs high in the rafters of the Fieldhouse to provide fair warning to all who enter.
