very good job one time on the pressure and they threw it long and
got two free throws for Jason. But the last two minutes we didn't
make as many plays as they did.
"Maybe (Kirk Hinrich's three straight threes in the second half) came too early. Maybe if we had been able to keep him out a little longer so he could have been in at the end. Maybe I put in back in the game too early. He was dying to get back in and fueled the rally that got us back in the game. But we've got to stop getting so many little cheap fouls on reaches and things like that. We ran a scramble one time, got a double-team, and everybody left the goal, and we should never have it where we don't have a goaltender. That was when they called the intentional foul, and we should never have that kind of play. "Drew got off to a really bad start. Took two shots early that he had no business taking. We weren't getting any rebounds whatsoever, we weren't getting good shots, and turning it over. But for him to bounce back and play like he did in the second half, I was very pleased. He and Kirk really did in the second half put us on their backs on the offensive end. But we still had some breakdowns defensively. Matt Barnes, 34 two nights ago and 27 today, he's on a heck of a run. Billy Knight was tough, too, and Gadzuric, particularly in the first half, was a load for us. "We had some guys in foul trouble and Jeff was struggling with his shot. It looked like his legs were gone a little bit, so I left him out a little longer one time to keep Keith in there. But you've got to be able to make plays, and we just didn't get enough good things done today." |
