Possession analysis

"I felt really good after the second half of the game against Princeton, and I thought tonight we had parts of the game where we were really good and other parts we weren't as sharp as we needed to be. We turned it over way too many times; just carelessness. Other than that, turning the basketball over, I liked what we were doing. We were very active on the boards. We missed a lot of shots. One time in the first half we had four shots at it and missed it. The next possession down we had three shots and missed all of them. We didn't take advantage of all our opportunities, but I thought we were really, really active, and bouncing back after being really excited about playing at Princeton, I felt good about what we did.

"You have 29 offensive rebounds. I mean, Drew 25 points, 21 rebounds, and that's sensational, but you don't like to look over there and see seven-for-20, but that's the reason he has 13 offensive rebounds. I think there were four different times where he missed the shot and got his own rebound and tapped it in or layed it in. But that's the most rebounds (65 total) in the 14 years I've been the coach. We are bigger and we should outrebound them, but 65-32 is a pretty big margin. But we missed so many shots. I think this is only the second game this year that we haven't shot 50% from the floor. And whoever is in charge of the video board, don't put up '17 straight free throws.' We missed the next frickin' free throw. If they'd stop putting that junk up and talking about it, we'd be better off.

"They were doubling and sometimes tripleing Nick and Drew when they got it, because they didn't want them to dominate the game because of our size advantage. And Nick and Drew are pretty doggone good. I thought they did a pretty good job of getting it back out. But there are seven turnovers between those two, and a lot of it was just not doing something quickly with the ball inside. But they made a decision that we were going to have to shoot it well from the perimeter, and we did shoot it well, particularly early in the first four or five minutes.

"We'll practice tomorrow and try to make it short. Try to break a sweat and try to get some things going. They're going to be off Monday and Tuesday. (The coming week is finals week) Wednesday will just be running and shooting. That way I can go recruiting. I'm going recruiting the next three days. In fact, I'm supposed to be over in Kansas City at Big Blue Monday or something Monday night, and I can't do that. And I can't do my radio show Monday night, but I am working. I'm not going to the golf course."
