Possession analysis

"There were a lot of fun things that went on, and I still think we gained something from it, but it was one of those weird nights. Kenny Gregory banks one from the corner for three, and misses a dunk. Those are two things that don't usually happen. But we had some good performances, and I think we gained something from the game.

"We're not 2-13 every night (Wednesday stat) from the three-point line. I'd like to think we can be 14-20 (tonight), but we're probably not that, either. We had too much size for 'em, and speed. We're more gifted on the basketball court, yet you still have to make those shots (63% FG, 70% 3pt, 80% FT), and we did shoot the ball really well. I knew that Jeff Boschee would bounce back and shoot the ball well since he didn't shoot it well the other night. You look down through there, there's seven guys in double figures and there were a lot of good things going on.

"(Mario Kinsey) is really coming along and doing some nice things. I like Drew's rebounding, Kenny Gregory passed it as well as I've ever seen him pass it, Eric was good. Kirk didn't have a very good night; he stayed in foul trouble. But hopefully he'll learn from that because we need to have Kirk in the game in the big-time games for us. Nick Collison didn't miss a single shot. He was 4-4 from the floor and 4-4 from the foul line. And the guys down there, whether it's Lewis Harrison or Mario, those guys got in and did some good things themselves, and kept things going and kept the crowd in it.

"(Kenny) is trying to take more of a leadership role. He's playing much harder defensively than he's ever played. Tonight, even in this kind of game, I really was impressed with what Kenny was trying to do defensively, chasing guys around screens.

"We wanted to (work on zone defense) tonight. We haven't had much chance, and I thought it might help Mark and his team to see some zone. We haven't played against it, and we might face it, so I was doing that to try to help them and help us, as well.

"(UCLA, Thursday, Coaches vs Cancer Tourney, NYC) will be a huge challenge for us. They're very athletic. Those guys fly around. We saw how they played here a few years back, and it's a similar type of team. We've got to have good practices Sunday, Monday, Tuesday before we get up there, and hopefully some good things will happen. It'll be fun going there. I'm anxious to see how we'll play against the competition we'll face up there."
