well at times. They gave us fits trying to get the basketball, and they were
taking it to the basket, getting our big guys in foul trouble. We wanted to get
their big guys in foul trouble. But we shot 53.6% from the floor, and during
about a six- or seven-minute stretch early in the second half we were really
good. We had a run there where we outscored 'em significantly, and that
was the basketball game right there.
"But that young man named Brown (Jamal), he's shooting 26% for the year from the three point line, and I kept thinking they weren't gonna go in, but they kept going in. He made four out of six for 'em down the stretch. At one point we had it at about a 15-point game, and he made two in a row. I don't think (the lead) ever got below nine or ten or something like that. "I had some guys do a really good job. Drew had 23 points and 10 rebounds. That's pretty impressive coming off the bench. If you look at his stats, and I don't make decisions based on that, but his stats are better for the games that he hasn't started. But as I said the other night, we're gonna rotate those guys, and I thought we got good play out of all of them. Eric has eight, Nick has 12, Drew has 23, Luke made three threes for us that helped us also. And then Brett Ballard came in and played two or three minutes for us that were really good. I got mad at Jeff and Kenny 'cause I didn't think they hustled after a loose ball twice in a row at the other end, and we're not gonna have those kind of plays in the game. "I think we played hard, but we've got to do it on the defensive end of the floor. I thought at times we were okay defensively, but they made a bunch of shots, too. Cliff Owens and Andy Ellis are really good players, and you have to be concerned about them, but Jamal's the one who almost shot us out tonight. "We've got our work cut out for us next weekend, to say the least. We'll have to have a great week of practice to get prepared." |
