Realignment Today: Florida State continues to make most noise in Realignment Round 3Matt has done a great job with this entry. He provides both breadth and depth in his actual blog, plus links to 7 other pages/articles with more information on the specific item being discussed.
Takeaway points --
The ACC may (or may not) be on shaky ground. Not just Florida State and Clemson are at stake, they are just the visibily talking members.
Clemson won't do anything on it's own, but is projected as willing to follow FSU.
As Matt notes, "It’s still very early on in Conference Realignment Round 3, and we may not even ever get to the point where this thing gets off the ground and starts to soar."
And this very sound point (and bit of KU history to illustrate it):
"Although Florida State and Clemson are the two schools talking the most right now, that doesn’t mean that others aren’t working on things quietly and behind the scenes. It hardly matters now, but, if you remember, KU was awfully quiet during a good chunk of the realignment fiasco, but I can assure you that KU’s leaders were talking to people every day in an attempt to put KU in the best position possible. The desired outcome the entire time was for the Big 12 to survive, and it did. But there were back-up plans in place — several of them."
"So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late" -- Bob DylanTravel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. - Mark Twain, "Innocents Abroad""Out of the tree of life I just picked me a plum...
