Perry jumps in the race. Everyone loves him. He becomes the front runner. People see he is the front runner and want to learn more about him. They do, and they are scared. Right wingers drop him like he ate the slugs that Bachman passed after eating the ones that came out of Trump's nose.
Cain wins the Florida straw poll and becomes very popular very quickly. People see he is more popular so they start paying attention to what he is saying and his record. Right wingers accuse "liberal elites" of trying to ruin his life.
