Wow. Talk about KU vaunting to a national profile in one fell swoop. It's official:
Great Leap Forward?I'm sure there will be naysayers on this (that he's not going to stay, that he won't be up for the recruiting grind, that he didn't win enough with much better talent at Notre Dame, etc.), but I think this is astounding.
Just one year ago Chiefs Nation was bummed out big-time because they were losing their superb offensive coordinator (who helped get them to the playoffs after a long drought) to Florida.
This catapults KU up into the national discussion, and will no doubt light a nice fire under our recruiting effort--which Zenger and company smartly wired down beforehand by committing to Reggie Mitchell's long-term KU future.
Final comment: no way Zenger makes this hire unless he developed a personal rapport with Weis, and truly felt that the latter was going to put his heart and soul into the effort.
You think Snyder and the "EMAW" crowd isn't just a
little concerned? And don't you just wish this had happened a couple years ago, so that we'd picked up a couple wins against the Tiggers before they pulled a Benedict Arnold and bolted to the SEC? I would have loved to have seen Weis go up against Pinkel!
This is big, folks. Big. I'm pleased...
