My concurring thoughts earlier were not meant to imply that Withey being on the bench in crunch time wasn't a factor. I actually think it was, but it was just one important factor in what you (NotO) and Coach Self noted was a complete team lapse. So I see it as not an either/or, but rather an "and" issue.
What I don't get is why Withey was sitting on the bench to begin with, since he only had 1 foul for the whole game. I get TT and T-Rob sitting when they were in foul trouble, but why Withey in crunch time (when he's our best interior defender and best free throw shooter)? Was it because A&M had gone smaller in that sequence and were primarily firing from outside (they did hit several 15-footers and a couple treys in that comeback sequence)? If not that, what was it?
Withey showed his worth in crunch time in the closing couple minutes, with both key rebounds and his ability to get to the hoop for fouls and made free throws. It wasn't the only reason we blew the lead (it was a full team lapse), but it can't be dismissed as an important contributing factor, either.
