Calipari has been attracting the best of the best for the past several years and this is his first NC. He found the right combo of kids who could put their egos aside this year. He clearly has gotten better at his system but I don't think he can do it year in and year out.
Unlike Wooden, something feels fundamentally wrong with what Calipari is doing and I don't think it is sustainable. That's my two cents.
A factor that could change things a bit is getting rid of the requirement of playing one year of college ball. I think it should be struck down. If I kid is NBA ready - let him go straight in - rather than treating college like an NBA minor league. I hate the one and done phenomenon. They aren't student athletes but seem more like mercenaries. Removing the freshmen requirement won't fix the problem but it would somewhat hinder the UK semipro system.
