you wouldn't see it in FLAT mode until you opened it, which I think is Mom's issue.
If there is an original topic that starts out with a title of "Cupcakes the team prefers" and is really about favorite cupcakes of the individual players, then some folks won't be interested in it after checking it out the first time. But in that thread, we get to scheduling issues and cupcakes on the schedule and a discussion of who is on the slate for the next year with a topic change of something like "Cupcakes aren't just for the eating, here is our schedule..." Then folks who had been passing on the topic, due to the original food aspect, will have missed the scheduling aspect of the evolved thread.
Personally I don't see any way around such an event. Even reminding people to start new threads won't probably be all that effective. And now I am hungry for some cupcakes. Darn it!
