Bulletin Board Registration

I regret going to a password system. My intent is not to limit discussion on the boards. I welcome diverse opinions, and feel many viewpoints are necessary for a great board. Unfortunately, posts designed to fill up the board with trash and/or sabotage the system are becoming more frequent. Passwords are available to all. I certainly hope that fans of other schools will join the discussion.

Passwords are only necessary when posting messages or replies. You do not need to enter a password to read messages. When you post on the board, you can still remain fairly 'anonymous'. You can use your handle instead of your name, and you are not required to leave your email address.

I promise not to sell the user list, or in any way spam you.

The Process

The registration process is not automated. I believe that would defeat the purpose of a password system. Please be patient. I will try to set up accounts each night.

I will not accept registrations from free email address (such as hotmail, rocketmail, theglobe, juno, bigfoot, yahoo, etc.). Once you are on the board, you may use your free email address for replies to your posts.

The system will write you automatically in order to verify your email address. You must respond before I will complete the registration process. Just hit 'reply.' Blanks emails, or entries from free email accounts, will not get a response.

You are not registered until I send you a confirmation note. If you don't hear from me after a few days, my email to you probably didn't go through. You should then begin the process again.

Instructions

First, you must read and accept the rules. Then email me with the following information:

  1. You must tell me your full name.

  2. Tell me your handle, which is the nickname under which you will post. This will be your username, and is not your password. If you do not include a username, your full name will be used.

  3. Include the password you want. It should be between 4 and 20 characters long, and can inlude letters and/or numbers. DO NOT use the password for your ISP. To defeat hackers, the password must be different from your username and email address. If the password is something pertaining to KU, at least put some numbers after it.

Rules

The rules are subject to change. Violations of the rules will result in the offending post being deleted, with temporary suspension or permanent banning of the offender also possible.

The following activities will not be tolerated:
