Discussion Boards: Basketball | Women's Basketball | Football

Send email to report a problem, make a suggestion, etc.

Other boards -- Currently, there are 5 boards available: Basketball; Football; Alumni News, a place to trade info about sports bars, etc; DTV Info, for KU fans who rely on the DirecTV Full Court subscription package; and Satellite Info, to trade satellite coordinates for KU games. I'll be happy to start other boards, so long as there is sufficient demand.

Passwords -- Due to frequent flaming and spamming, I have instituted a password system for the Basketball and Football bulletin boards. The passwords need only be entered when posting messages, never for just reading. You may obtain a password by clicking here.
Colors -- Messages you haven't read will be shown in blue.
Size -- Because the front page loads every message, it will quickly be too large to download. I will therefore need to delete older messages. (The DTV and Alumni boards are archival; messages will remain on the system until the season is completed.)
Adding links -- You can easily add a link to an outside document , without knowing any HTML code. Enter the address in the first box, and the text you wish to be highlighted in the second. On the basketball board, just enclose the URL (including http://) in arrow brackets (ex: <http://www.rockchalk.com/daily.sht>). Under no circumstance will links to adult material be tolerated.
HTML Capable -- The text area of your post accepts HTML code for formatting or highligting your words. Please, do not enter code to display pictures, as it will slow the system. Instead, just provide a link to the picture.
Word filter -- The boards do NOT have a word-filter. Please try to keep it clean--we're KU fans, not pro-wrestling fans.

Rules

The rules are subject to change. Violations of the rules will result in the offending post being deleted, with temporary suspension or permanent banning of the offender also possible.

The following activities will not be tolerated:

Links to adult material.
Offensive language -- This includes "sucks." I will not list all the proscribed words. Also, racism will not be tolerated.
Personal attacks -- This includes comments about the players, coaches, and especially other posters on the board. No "flaming."
"Flaming" and "woofing" -- I won't always delete this stuff, so long as the message contains some meaningful content and other rules aren't violated, but I will definitely delete a "woofing" war.
Imposture -- You can use a handle instead of your name, and you don't have to leave your address. But do not impersonate someone else. Do not loan your password to someone else.
Any attempt to undermine or "bomb" the system.

If you find a violation of any of the rules, please email me. Please refer to the message number (in the location-line of your browser) or the author and subject. Writing me on the board itself just slows the system.

Requests

All Caps -- Please don't post in ALL CAPS. It's hard on the eyes.
Personal discussions -- Don't trade 'how are you doing' posts with someone. Sure, you can find long-lost friends on the board. Then, please, exchange email addresses and take the discussion private.
Quoting -- If you don't need to quote the entire post, then don't. Especially for no-message (NM) posts. It's a waste of bandwidth.
Slow down when you type, and check your posts before submitting.
Misunderstandings -- It's very easy for people to mistake your meaning. Use emoticons or abbreviations, especially when kidding.
Support our sponsors. This board is free to use, but not to operate. Without ad money, I will not be able to afford the board. Every once in a while, click on one of the 'sponsors' ads. Look around, buy something, send an email of thanks, etc.
